In late 1943, the 2nd Panzer Division was sent to France for refitting after heavy losses on the Eastern Front.

After sustaining heavy losses on the Eastern Front, the division was redeployed to France for reorganisation in late 1943. 

D-Day & The Battle of Normandy, June 1944

Following the invasion of Normandy, the division was moved to Normandy in June 1944.

The division participated in the Battle of Normandy in June 1944, clashing with British forces.

The Falaise pocket, August 1944

The 2nd Panzer Division escaped the pocket but broke out with heavy losses in materiel and troops.

The Division was briefly trapped in the Falaise pocket, although it managed to break free with substantial losses. It managed to retreat and was re-formed in Wittlich, Germany, in September 1945.

The Battle of the Bulge, Dec 1944

After being refitted, the Division participated in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes in December 1944.

The Division was all but destroyed in the Ardennes in December 1944.

Abandoning all their equipment about 600 men made it back to their own lines on the night of 26 December

The Battle of the Rhine, April 1945

In the Spring of 1945, they were tasked with stopping the Allied crossing of the River Rhine. Their last combat engagement was in April 1945 near the city of Fulda.

The divisions final combat involvement was in April 1945, when it was tasked with impeding the Allied crossing of the River Rhine near Fulda.

Surrender and defeat, May 1945

The 2nd Panzer Division surrendered to US Forces in north-west Czechoslovakia and Saxony.
