Sd.Kfz.233

The Schwerer Panzerspähwagen (7,5 cm) Sd. Kfz. 233 was an adaptation of the 8 Rad Armoured Car, equipped with a short 75mm main gun alongside an MG 42 machine gun. A total of 115 units were manufactured between 1942 and 1943, each seeing action across various significant battlefronts such as in north Africa, Normandy, and the Battle of the Bulge. Armed with a short-barreled (L/24) 7.5 cm KwK 37 gun, it shared similar armaments with the early Panzer  III and Panzer IV and STUG-III models.

Production primarily took place at the Büssing plant, resulting in 109 new vehicles constructed from December 1942 to October 1943. Additionally, 10 units were converted from existing 263 chassis in October 1942, bringing the total made to 119 vehicles. This Sd.Kfz. variant was introduced into service in 1942 and remained operational throughout the duration of World War II.
